Nickelodeon's AddictingGames Wants to be 'App Store' for Flash Developers

Posted May 13, 2010 by M.H. Williams

Today, Nickelodeon’s AddictingGames, the top youth free-online gaming website, announced the launch of their virtual goods platform. The platform will allow independent Flash developers to monetize their games through the AddictingGames site. It also will provide developers the opportunity to access AddictingGames’ 30 million monthly visitors.

"This is a game changer for the Flash developer community, opening the door to hundreds of thousands of revenue dollars for independent developers. What the App Store was for app developers, AddictingGames will now be for Flash developers," said Dave Williams, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Nickelodeon Kids and Family Games Group. "The addition of virtual goods will also give gamers an added value in gameplay and hopefully engage them on a much deeper level."

Addicting Games’ virtual good platform launches today with the release of four titles with more in the pipeline, including Red Swordless Ninja, Planet Noevo, Red Storm, Stylish Girl and MotoRush. Each title will offer virtual goods in exchange for the recently-released AddictingGames Bucks, which can be purchased on the site. Players can use AG Bucks to purchase vanity items, gifts for friends, and power-ups for developers’ titles.
