NFL Blitz, Midway's over-the-top arcade football title from the late '90s, is getting a makeover for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, courtesy of EA Sports and developer Tiburon. The game will be available in January for 1200 MS Points or $14.99 on PSN. The remake brings with it HD graphics and online game modes.

NFL Blitz was one of the great arcade classics of the 90s, and now we’re bringing back everything fans loved at a great price, in high-definition and as a digital download,” says Cam Weber, general manager of American Football for EA SPORTS. “The new NFL Blitz will preserve the competitive nature of the original game, while delivering to fans the ultimate rivalry experiences online.”

The arcade game originally appeared in '97 and was quickly brought to N64 and PlayStation In 1998. EA Sports' digital remake will mark the first version of the game to carry the NFL license since 2003 (EA holds the exclusive NFL license).
