Posted January 19, 2010 by David Radd

New Super Mario Bros. Wii has become the fastest Wii title in Japan to reach three million sales, according to Enterbrain [thanks Kotaku]. The title reached the mark in seven weeks, which is faster then either Wii Fit or Wii Sports.

The 2D Wii Mario title also had the best Japanese debut for any Wii game ever, with over 400,000 in sales on its first day and nearly a million during its first week of availability. Nintendo has also indicated that New Super Mario Bros. Wii has sold over 6.5 million copies in the U.S. and Europe.
