Codemasters Co-Founder Forms New Mobile Studio

Posted September 12, 2011 by Ben Strauss

One of the co-founders of Codemasters, David Darling, has moved into another gaming venture, this time starting up a new mobile based studio intent on developing for the growing smartphone market.  The new studio, Kwalee, is focused on developing “unique and rewarding” apps for the range of mobile platforms.

Darling’s new studio promises to be a new experience in gaming development.  "Kwalee is different," said the firm in their opening announcement.   "We seek to excite and entertain our customers with innovative new products that provide special experiences."

"Our ethos is based around a set of core values that put the customer first and which harness the creative skills of our staff to the maximum in order to do so."

David Darling and his brother Richard Darling founded Codemasters back in 1986, eventually selling their stake in 2007 to move into new projects.  Codemasters remains an influential European firm - one that has turned out major franchises such as the critically acclaimed Dirt.
