New Alan Wake Coming, Not Sequel Or DLC

Posted May 10, 2011 by M.H. Williams

Fans of the horror title Alan Wake can finally look forward to seeing more of the haunted writer protagonist.   Remedy has confirmed to Eurogamer that more Alan Wake is coming, but it won’t be a sequel or downloadable content.

"Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC," said Oskari Hakkinen, Remedy’s head of franchise development.

"The rest we're saving for our official announcement when we'll actually show you. It's something that'll definitely give more to the Wake fans out there, but just as importantly, this installment will also give an opportunity for players who aren't familiar with the franchise to finally jump on board," he added.

Rumors began yesterday when a graphics artist listed “Alan Wake 2” as a project on her LinkedIn profile.  Remedy was surprised about the leak, but is pleased about the fan response to the idea.

"This has come in a little unexpected as we weren't expecting to be talking about this just yet. On the flip side, it's great to see that there is interest out there - it really would seem Alan Wake is very close to the hearts of the fans out there, and to ours too,” said Hakkinen.

"It is of course a shame that this news leaked before our official announcements went out which will include the visuals and information to support it. We can't wait to show you more, bear with us. Release dates, platforms and pricing are unconfirmed as of yet, but Fall 2011 is probably a good guess."

Not a sequel?  Not DLC?  I can’t wait to play Alan Wake: Brotherhood this year and Alan Wake: Revelations in 2013.
