Netflix Still Hedging On Game Rentals

Posted October 25, 2011 by M.H. Williams

Earlier this month, Netflix did an about face on its plan to split off its DVD shipping service into a separate unit called Qwikster.  Unfortunately, this also means that the game rental service that Qwikster was supposed to implement has been dropped by the wayside.

"We have yet to decide whether or not to offer video game discs," CEO Reed Hastings told investors on Monday. "The decision will have little financial impact either way."

So, for the time being you’re stuck with GameFly or Blockbuster if you want game rentals sent directly to your home.  Alternatively, if you wish to brave the outside world, Redbox is also there for your gaming rental needs.
