NES Title Stadium Events Sells for $41,300

Posted March 2, 2010 by David Radd

As astounding as an eBay sale that recently netted over $13,000 was, a more recent find blew that out of the water. Yahoo! Games [thanks Edge] is reporting that, while a reader was rifling through a stack of nearly 200 NES games, he found a copy of the game (Stadium Events) that netted thousands, and it was in new, unboxed condition.

"Now I’m not much of a collector, but I know that having a factory seal is good," said Kansas reader Dave.

Ultimately, this copy of Stadium Events sold for $41,300 on eBay. The super-rare title was published in limited numbers in late 1987 by Bandai, but Nintendo purchased the rights to the Family Fun Fitness mat (later released as the Power Pad) in 1988, and they recalled all copies of Stadium Events (which was later sold as World Class Track Meet), leaving only about 200 cartridges surviving.

Did you see the one that just ended for over $800,000 yesterday? Of course, that was due to a bunch of idiots bidding it up to astronomical proportions(which they were never going to pay). But atleast it's a nifty fun fact for say, a game like 1 vs 100.
