Need for Speed World Hits One Million Registered

Posted September 9, 2010 by Ben Strauss

The recently released and free-to-play racing MMO Need for Speed World has surpassed a major milestone today. EA has announced that over 1 million people have registered to play the game.

The publisher also promised that support for the game would be ongoing, with new features, cars and content coming in the next several months. New features will include more customization options, a whole new region within the game and co-op mode.

"Need for Speed fans have played a critical role in making Need for Speed World a success," said John Doyle, senior producer on the game. "Fan feedback has helped shape every aspect of the experience - whether it's the creation of a new feature or improving polish and progression.”

"We're excited to open the gates so that every Need for Speed World player now has free access to all current and future content including new modes, cars, features and more."

Black Box Studios, developers to the game, are behind a title that is one of EA’s several attempts to break into the social gaming world with well-known franchises. Hitting 1 million users for the game is certainly an accomplishment.
