With a movie version of Asteroids in the works, no game property seems impossible for film consideration. Now, word from the Los Angeles Times says that the seminal shmup Space Invaders is being mulled at Warner Bros.
Negotiations are apparently taking place between Warner Bros. and Taito (currently a subsidiary of Square Enix). Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan, The Day After Tomorrow), Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity) and Guymon Casady would produce if the rights issues are worked out for the over 30-year-old property.

I'm personally looking forward to the screen adaptation of Bubble Bobble & Frogger. :)

Stuff like this only reinforces my belief that Hollywood is really bankrupt when it comes to ideas. They're constantly looking to video games and comics (or literature) to come up with films. And most video games, as we know, make for horrible films.
