Posted November 1, 2010 by Ben Strauss

The popular U.K.-based Moshi Monsters is on track to make $100 million with retail products based on the brand in 2011, says developer Mind Candy. The free-to-play game now claims over 30 million players. This is the first time that Mind Candy is announcing financial projections.

"Moshimonsters.com is the heartbeat of the brand but we're looking forward to developing many new physical products that connect back to the virtual world and enhance the experience for our players," said Michael Action Smith, CEO of Mind Candy.  "Toys, trading cards and books should help make the virtual world even more fun for millions of children around the world."

Besides claiming over 30 million players, the game boasts some impressive numbers. Mind Candy recently stated that their game has a new player joining up every second, and that to date, over 1 billion puzzles within the game have been played.

Mind Candy has partnered with Spin Master in the U.S., Hunter in Australia, Scholastic in the U.S. and Topps for global distributing functions on multiple retail products.  The company already has deals with major partners such as Penguin Books (Books outside of North America) and Vivid Imaginations (Master Toy Manufacturer and U.K. distributor).
