Monster Hunter Going Social

Posted November 11, 2011 by David Radd

According to Andriasang.com, Capcom is preparing a social version of Monster Hunter for the Gree platform. Monster Hunter is a hugely successful franchise in Japan, and the Gree platform is gaining steam. The game is formally titled Monhan Tankenki: Maboroshi no Shima or Monster Hunter Exploration Journal: Phantom Island.

Based off of the Monster Hunter Frontier Online, the game will take place on Phantom Island where there are a mixture of familiar monsters to the franchise and brand new ones native to the island. While the various games of the series usually deal with slaying giant animals, this social game will have you raising monsters to fight against other monsters.

The mobile social game is currently taking pre-registration, and the game will use a free-to-play model that's supported by item sales.
