Molyneux Now Overseeing All European Game Development at Microsoft

Posted June 4, 2009 by David Radd

Develop is reporting that Peter Molyneux has been promoted to creative director of Europe at Microsoft Games Studios.  Previously the creative director of Lionhead Studios, he will now oversee Rare and other studios in Europe.  Molyneux will continue to be based in Guildford, the home of Lionhead.

Molyneux has over two decades worth of experience in game creation.  He worked on Populous, Syndicate, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper while at Bullfrog Productions, later working on franchises like Black & White, Fable and The Movies at Lionhead, which was purchased by Microsoft in 2006.  Microsoft says that Molyneux “will bring a unique set of skills and an in-depth understanding of the games development process to this newly created role.”

David Radd has worked as a gaming journalist since 2004 at sites such as GamerFeed, Gigex and GameDaily Biz.

Molyneux has always been a great visionary but has never been able to really follow though with Lionhead studio.
I hope that maybe with him mixing with other studios he can put some of his talents to better, broader use.
