Microsoft has announced that they will be working with developers from around the tech world in creating innovative enhancements for businesses that will utilize the motion-controller aspects of Kinect. The new Kinect Accelerator program will offer finalists a shot at $20,000, an Xbox development kit and office space in Seattle to work on the new tech.
Microsoft hopes that they will be able to support a wide variety of “entrepreneurs, engineers and innovators” to create something unique to the Kinect for business purposes. The intent is to focus on retail application as well as other programs in education, healthcare, art and even gaming. The main caveat is that all applications must have a commercial aspect.
Developers are currently able to apply for the grant right now, and will work to become a finalist sometime early next year.
