Microsoft has officially gone on record to dismiss the growing tide of rumors surrounding a possible reveal of the next-generation console for the electronics giant. The company has made it sound as though it is a definite, especially due to the lack of a price cut for the Xbox 360 this year.
“I am not convinced things will happen this year,” said Microsoft marketing executive Cedrick Delmax. “Xbox 360′s cycle is not at all finished. The proof is that we don’t see the logic in cutting the price this year.”
“E3 is still premature. What’s certain is that there’ll be nothing new in 2012.”
Delmax also took time to address concerns against the other Big Two, saying that Microsoft simply does not care to fret against the Wii U or Sony’s decision not to showcase the PS4 this year.
“We’re not here to counter Nintendo and they’re not here to fight the other manufacturers,” Delmax said. “Nintendo has put itself in a different cycle; they’re advancing at their own pace.”
That almost confirms that Nintendo will stand alone as the only company to unveil a new console in 2012, at least for E3.
C'est la vie.
