Wives of Rockstar San Diego employees publicly vented their frustrations in an inarticulate but effective letter recently. While independent reports have backed up those claims, it seems the problems with Rockstar are not limited to that single development studio.
Speaking to Joystiq, an anonymous former Rockstar Vancouver employee commented, "Virtually everything said in the original 'Rockstar wives' letter and by current and former Rockstar San Diego employees in the comments applies to my experience at Rockstar Vancouver."
The source noted that Max Payne 3 is currently set to be completed by August 2010, though he is pessimistic that this will happen. "The game's story just went through another total re-write earlier this month (the third that I am aware of in the past two years) and that [means] the team would have to have all of the content done by April or May to make that August release date,” he said.
Rockstar Vancouver is apparently in full crunch mode until the project ends, with 14 - 16 hour work days over six or seven days a week. The two weeks of vacation scheduled over the past holidays was apparently canceled.
Max Payne 3 was originally set to release in late 2009 before it was moved to the first half of 2010. It was recently delayed until the latter half of 2010.
