While reports in May suggested that Massive was undergoing major staff reductions, Massive head JJ Richards has come out strongly for his company. Posting in the Microsoft Advertising Blog [thanks Edge], Richards talked about how well his company is doing now and expects to be doing in the near future.
"For our 2009 fiscal year, Massive achieved an impressive double-digit year-on-year revenue growth in the face of one of the worst economic crises of the last century," wrote Richards. "We're seeing light at the end of the tunnel and Massive already exceeded first quarter sales targets by more than 100% just one month into our new fiscal year."
He notes that Massive has booked over 1,000 clients since starting four years ago, emphasizing Massive's reach to 40 million Xbox 360 and PC gamers in 31 different countries. Richards also asserts that in-game ads are effective, relatively cheap and generally appreciated by gamers.
Yes we can in-game advertise!
In-game advertising companies persistently assert that gamers like in-game advertising, but we can't help but feel they build their questions around a conclusion in such studies.

Video games became commercial a long time ago and in
essence the revenue from them enable companies to produce better games so in my opinion this is good news and good luck to them.
