Mass Effect Drawing 'Tremendous' Interest in Hollywood, says BioWare

Posted January 25, 2010 by David Radd

Mass Effect is a sci-fi RPG series with a detailed universe and epic story, making it ripe material to be proliferated to other media. While movies tend to be troublesome for gaming properties, BioWare would still like to see Mass Effect on the big screen.

"Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about Mass Effect," said Mass Effect 2 project director Casey Hudson to MTV Movies Blog. "The most important thing for us is, we don't just want to see a movie get made. We want to see a great movie get made, if it's going to get done at all."

While eager to make a Mass Effect movie, Hudson noted that there isn't a rush to do so. "We're just looking at our options there, but waiting to make sure we have something really right before we do it."

BioWare is probably looking for the right screenplay and the right director to come along before signing off on this; it could make the difference between something that could turn into an epic series and a forgettable one-off.

In Hollywood, tremendous interest and $5.50 will get you a soy latte.
