Mass Effect 3 to Offer Multiplayer?

Posted June 1, 2010 by Ben Strauss

Mass Effect developer BioWare has posted a job entry on EA’s job site, and it appears that the Montreal studio is looking for a multiplayer programmer for an upcoming game. Though they do not specifically state that the game will be Mass Effect 3, they do discuss the Mass Effect franchise in the job listing. “We are working on Mass Effect, one of the industry's most beloved and acclaimed franchises, as we build our way toward becoming a fully self-sufficient BioWare studio. If you want to help us achieve our mission of delivering the best story-driven games in the world, and you dream of being part of a dynamic, talented and focused team, now is the time to get onboard.”

The game isn’t specifically confirmed from the job posting; this could very well be supplemental for the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic or another BioWare game coming out.

What we do know is that Mass Effect is big. It is a well-received franchise, and there is even a movie in the works for the game. The very idea of an MMORPG for this game is not outside the realm of things possible for Mass Effect at the conclusion to the Commander Shepard trilogy. The franchise is certainly not over for BioWare at that point.
