Mass Effect 3 Copies Being Launched into Space

Posted February 17, 2012 by David Radd

Electronic Arts has announced a special promotion to celebrate the launch of Mass Effect 3 by literally putting the game into the stratosphere, reports USA Today. Using weather balloons, EA will launch copies of the game into the air around New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Berlin, London and Paris.

Each game will have a GPS tracking device on board that fans can keep track of on masseffect.com and the @MassEffect Twitter account, giving players a chance to play the game when the balloons drop down to Earth a full week before it releases. There will also be a new trailer for the game during the episode of The Walking Dead this Sunday at 9 PM on AMC.

It's certainly a unique publicity stunt to get even more exposure for a blockbuster franchise.
