BioWare's blockbuster RPG Mass Effect 2 has already seen impressive critical and commercial success. Publisher Electronic Arts revealed last week that it already shipped 2 million copies of the game worldwide, and now the U.K. data trackers at Chart-Track have announced that Mass Effect 2 has hit number one on the sales charts in its first week.
The sequel seems to be doing far better than its predecessor, as Chart-Track said sales of Mass Effect 2 on Xbox 360 have been "almost double that achieved first time round and three times higher on PC." BioWare's epic managed to bump off Ubisoft’s Just Dance (Wii), which fell to number two but still enjoyed a sales increase of 16% over last week.
It's also worth noting that Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which placed third, has been in the top 3 on the U.K. charts for 12 weeks now. Meanwhile, Sony's MAG had a solid debut, taking the fourth spot on the chart in its debut.
Here's the top 10 chart:
- Mass Effect 2 (EA)
- Just Dance (Ubisoft)
- Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision)
- MAG (Sony)
- Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo)
- Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo)
- FIFA 10 (EA)
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo)
- Army Of Two: The 40th Day (EA)
- James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game (Ubisoft)
