Update: In the press announcement, EA says Mass Effect 2 on PS3 will include "hours of bonus content."

While PlayStation 3 owners have been clamoring for the original Mass Effect on the Sony console for some time now, today was a step in the right direction as BioWare confirmed during Gamescom in Germany that Mass Effect 2 is headed for PS3 in January.
Microsoft, not EA, published the first game in the franchise, so it's possible that PS3 owners may never see it.
That's unfortunate since your actions and decisions from the first title do indeed affect how things play out in the sequel. Nevertheless, Sony is no doubt pleased to add another multi-million selling franchise to its console at this time, and PS3 owners looking to experience another great BioWare game shouldn't hesitate to pick it up regardless of the lack of continuity from the first Mass Effect.
In addition to the Mass Effect news, the sequel to BioWare's Dragon Age 2 has been dated for March 8, 2011.
“The Dragon Age franchise got off to a tremendous start. With Dragon Age 2, we are building on the outstanding RPG fundamentals the original delivered while taking the franchise in a new direction with faster, more responsive combat that will allow players to think like a general, but fight like a Spartan,” said Mark Darrah, executive producer at BioWare. “We are giving the franchise’s gameplay a shot of adrenaline. We can’t wait to get the game in people’s hands so they can feel the difference.”

And referring back to the Jaffe story about liars. Here's a prime example in bioware. We'll not really I guess. They never said it wasn't coming to PS3. In fact they made it a point never to say that. They just kept saying there are no plans as of now. We knew it was coming though. lol I remember a thread on vgc probably months ago that listed a handful of games that were rumored to go multiplat and this was on the list. All the xbox fanboys were going no it will never happen. I don't care to say I told you so. I just hope they realize that they shouldn't keep adoring these companies but they should just get their games and leave it at that.
I expect to hear ubisoft announce Conviction for the PS3 next.
