Magicka is another cult favorite coming out of Valve’s Steam service, alongside titles like Terraria and recent indie darling Frozen Synapse. The game, developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Paradox Interactive, has seen great success and one expansion so far: Magicka Vietnam. While at GDC Europe, Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester told Joystiq that Magicka has sold nearly 800,000 units so far.
"It's gonna pass that [sales milestone] in the next week, week after or so," Wester said. "We're still doing between five and seven thousand a week, so it's a great sales number."
When asked about the sales of the Vietnam expansion, Wester said that, "it's done a few hundred thousand, so the attachment rate is really high.”
The publisher is hoping the title will pass the 1 million unit milestone by the end of 2011.
