LucasArts President Talks Company 'Heritage'

Posted September 14, 2009 by David Radd

LucasArts president Darrell Rodriguez indicated to GameTrailers TV [thanks Shacknews] that the recent remake of The Secret of Monkey Island has done better than the company expected. Because of this, he indicated that the company will release more of its vintage titles on Steam and iPhone, mentioning Grim Fandango, Indiana Jones and Star Wars: Jedi Knight.

He also indicated that he had met up with old school LucasArts legends Tim Schafer, Larry Holland, Dave Grossman and Ron Gilbert. "Wouldn't it be great to work with them on new things?" said Rodriguez.

He indicated that new entries in several classic franchises are being considered. "We're really excited about getting back to the heritage and the halcyon days of LucasArts," Rodriguez added. "When people couldn't wait for a LucasArts title to come out--games based on story and on character."

We're big fans of LucasArts games of yesteryear, but we honestly haven't bought a title from the company in years. If LucasArts started producing hits the quality of TIE Fighter again, we'd give the company another shot.
