LittleBigPlanet Spawns One Million User Levels

Posted July 22, 2009 by David Radd

LittleBigPlanet has enjoyed a committed and dedicated community since the game's launch, helping to give the game a "long tail" at retail. Today Sony Computer Entertainment and developer Media Molecule let it be known that over one million user created levels have been uploaded to the PlayStation Network.

Sony calculates that the number of levels is equal to roughly one level generated every 21 seconds since LittleBigPlanet launched. It would take any one of the 2.4 million unique players that have played LittleBigPlanet online nearly five years playing non-stop to experience every uploaded level. A video created to celebrate the milestone can be seen here.

LittleBigPlanet has inspired a lot of creative ideas since it released and we can't wait to see more from Sony's “Play, Create and Share” brand, which seems to have directly inspired the upcoming Mod Nation Racers from United Front.
