The 7th annual Develop Industry Excellence Awards are now over and LittleBigPlanet has won big. The game and its developer Media Molecule garnered five awards in total, including Best New IP, Visual Arts, Technical Innovation, Best New Studio and Best Independent Developer.
In addition to accolades for LittleBigPlanet, Phil Harrison was honored with the Development Legend award "for his sterling contribution to the European games industry during a long and illustrious career." Another individual to be recognized was agent Jacqui Lyons, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award for being "the first person in the world to recognise the pulling power of games developers."
On the company side, Codemasters was awarded the Grand Prix, which "acknowledges the many achievements made by the company on the global games development stage during almost 25 years of business."
