Limbo Looks Beyond Mere Survival With 300,000 Copies Sold

The critically-acclaimed Xbox Live Arcade platformer that places you in the shoes of a small boy who dies in a host of horrible ways has seemingly found an audience.

Playdead, the title’s developer, has told Gamasutra that the game has sold more than 300,000 copies since release last month. The developer is comprised of a nine-person Danish team, who are probably ecstatic about the game’s reception.

"You could call it a learning-by-dying game. We wanted the player to die a lot in this game, I think it really works with the theme,” said level designer Jeppe Carlsen. "The biggest rewards come from finally finding the solution to a puzzle you had to struggle with for some time. Getting that balance right is really important in making a puzzle game that's entertaining to play."
