Level 5 Expanding to The U.S.

Posted June 2, 2010 by M.H. Williams

Level 5 is well known for working with major publishers for their hit titles. The developer has been behind numerous second-party RPG titles, such as Square Enix's Dragon Quest VIII and Sony's Dark Cloud, Rogue Galaxy, and White Knight Chronicles games. They hit it big with their first self-funded and self-published title, Professor Layton and The Curious Village for Nintendo DS.

The company announced today that they are planning to open a North American branch in Santa Monica, California this September. The new branch will be named Level 5 International America Inc. Level 5 remains mum on whether the studio will be development-based or for purely administrative purposes.

The company says that a European branch is also forthcoming. Level 5 is currently developing White Knight Chronicles 2 for PlayStation 3, and developed the recently released Nintendo DS monster hit, Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies.
