Lego Star Wars Gets Unified

Unity Technologies today announced that it has signed a three-year agreement with Lego Group to standardize 3D content on Lego.com. Unity has helped provide the technology behind Lego Star Wars: The Quest for R2D2 and Bionicle: Glatorian Arena.

“We’re very excited to be playing such a significant part of the Lego Group’s future web plans, and this three-year deal is recognition that the Unity platform and our unrivaled support address the needs of browser-based content creation,” said David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies. “We’re experiencing rapid growth of the Unity plugin, with around 1 million installs per month, and we anticipate that this will grow exponentially as Unity is adopted by more sites and consumers become more familiar with our brand.”

Additionally, LucasArts and TT Games announced the next game in the Lego Star Wars franchise. Titled Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, the game will feature characters from both seasons of The Clone Wars animated series and is promised to be “the most action-packed Lego videogame to date.”

“LucasArts is an amazing partner, and working with them on the next iteration of the Lego Star Wars series continues to be a great experience,” said Tom Stone, director at TT Games. “The team at TT is working hard at making this simply the best Lego game ever with all new gameplay and features never before seen in a Lego game.”
