The Nintendo Wii is probably less than a year away from being taken over by the new Wii U, but Nintendo has made it clear that motion control is staying, particularly with future Legend of Zelda titles. News straight from series manager Eiji Aonuma confirms that motion control will play a strong part in upcoming entries into the franchise, following the success of Skyward Sword which quickly sold 600K copies in the US in its first week.
"I honestly think we cannot go back to button controls now," Aonuma said to Official Nintendo Magazine. "So I think that these controls will be used in future Zelda titles, too."
The Wii U has already demonstrated a new touchpad control mechanism, and the news from Aonuma has many wondering how motion controlled gaming is going to come into play.
