LA Noire Sets Sales Record in U.K.

Posted May 23, 2011 by James Brightman

L.A. Noire is off to a great start with very positive reviews and strong sales out of the gate. North American numbers aren't available yet, but Rockstar's latest game has set the record in the U.K. for the fastest-selling new IP. Data firm Chart-Track did not release specific numbers, but the game did fare slightly better on the Xbox 360 (58%) than the PS3 (42%), despite the fact that the title started its development on PS3.

This made L.A. Noire the 13th fastest-selling Xbox 360 of all time in the U.K. and the 11th fastest on the PS3. Some analysts believe L.A. Noire will go on to sell about 4 million units worldwide, and while some have called the game uninspired, many of us are rooting for its success to help elevate the gaming medium as a whole.
