Konami Publishing Deal Loss Leads to Layoffs at Day 1 Studios

Posted December 5, 2011 by M.H. Williams

A source has told GameSpot that Day 1 Studios has laid off 95 percent of a single team after the loss of a publishing deal with Konami.  100 employees have been cut from the studio, with a smaller team remaining to work on a second project in development.  The team was working on a new version of Silent Scope, Konami’s arcade shooter.

The cuts apparently affected Day 1’s Chicago-based studio, with the other studio being based in Hunt Valley, Maryland.  The studio’s last big title was F.E.A.R. 3, which was published by WB Games.  Day 1 Studios has yet to comment on the situation.
