Konami Dissolving Hudson as Acquisition Deal Takes Effect

Posted January 17, 2012 by Ben Strauss

Hudson Soft is to be formally dissolved starting March 1, despite Konami’s initial call to “strengthen Hudson’s net worth” and “support and enhance [the] organization.”

The news comes from Konami, who expressed that the long-time developer would be absorbed into Konami Digital Entertainment, effectively ending the Hudson Soft name.

Hudson Soft is most remembered for their work with Bomberman, a franchise that has seen dozens of titles across a multitude of platforms.  While frequently partnering with Nintendo, Hudson Soft was an independent studio up until Konami purchased them in April. It's unclear at the moment if Hudson's franchises will continue to be produced.
