Kinect Technology 'Improving Every Day,' says Tetsuya Mizuguchi

Posted July 21, 2010 by Ben Strauss

Concerns about noticeable lag resulting from user interaction has been a major topic of discussion for those interested in the new Kinect device coming to the Xbox 360 later this year. Child of Eden designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi says though, “Every day the technology and software improves, so we’re constantly tuning it.”

Speaking to CVG, Mizuguchi assured that Microsoft is constantly improving and tweaking the technology, and that improvements have been noticeable.

Mizuguchi’s Child of Eden was one of the major games displayed at Microsoft’s E3 presentation, and the resemblance to Rez was noticeable. For Child of Eden though, motion controls will be a major aspect of gameplay. “I really love working with new technology and seeing what sort of experience we can create around it," Mizuguchi said about why they decided to work with Kinect. "The Natal (now Kinect) technology happened to be the first one we got our hands on, so we wanted to see how it could work with Child of Eden."

Though the Kinect launches this November, Child of Eden is not scheduled for release until some time next year.
