Killzone 3 won't be out until 2011, but the game is already starting to build significant buzz, in part because it's been confirmed that the title will offer 3-D stereoscopic visuals. Sony recently showed off an early build of the game at a press event in San Francisco, and while the 3-D aspect at this stage seems disappointing, according to VentureBeat's Dean Takahashi, there's no doubt that developer Guerilla Games is doing everything it can to push the PS3 to the limit.

Killzone 2 was visually stunning in its own right, but the next game should raise the bar. It might even use every ounce of power the PS3 offers, according to Hermen Hulst, managing director at Guerilla. "I think we are using every clock cycle that is available. I don’t think we can get much more," commented Hulst to VentureBeat. He then added, however, "I said that after Killzone 2, and I have been proven wrong."
Sony is counting on Killzone 3 to make a huge splash next year, especially as the company continues to push 3-D gaming. Hulst acknowledged that his team is under big pressure. "Killzone 3 is a much more ambitious game than Killzone 2. We are under pressure, but we work well under pressure," he said.

Strange how the article said the 3D is disappointing (Gamepro said the snowflakes all around you is a gamechanger) and inaccurate (Destructoid said the reticule becomes even more noticeably on the enemy). I guess people are having varied experiences.
