Update: Now developer Guerilla Games has confirmed the news on the European PlayStation.blog. Managing Director Hermen Hulst also talks about the game's development and new features.
Original story:
Gamers on the PlayStation 3 are finally hearing details about the inevitable release of Killzone 3. Gamepro this month has the initial details, and it seems like players will get the chance to really take on the Helghast in new and exciting ways.
Chief representation to that is the 3D capability that will be put to show for the first time in what is going to be a major PS3 exclusive release. Apparently, the 3D effects are ‘crazy’ as the article puts it, and this will be a real test to see how 3D can perform on a high-end game; considering how visually stunning Killzone already is, it should be a good show. "3D will be a game changer,” as it has been put. Developers have confirmed in the article that 3D will be optional, as a 3D capable TV will be needed to play the game in 3D.
With the rise of popularity in 3D TV, movies and the upcoming support in handhelds and games, it is the first time that a Triple-A game has been pegged for 3D support. The announced jetpacks in the game coupled with 3D capability could push gamers to support 3D in jest as simply announcing jetpacks gets them into a frenzy.
As of yet, there are no details pertaining to the release date for Killzone 3.
