Ken Kutaragi Founds Cyber AI Entertainment

Posted November 11, 2009 by David Radd

Ken Kutaragi, best known as the "Father of PlayStation," is launching a new venture. Nikkei.com is reporting that Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.'s Honorary Chairman set up Cyber AI Entertainment Inc. last month, which is said to be focusing on cloud computing for entertainment purposes.

"We'll initially focus on research and development relating to information processing, targeting cutting-edge networking operations," said Kutaragi.

Kutaragi will own 90 percent of the firm and serve as president, while former Sony engineer Takashi Usuki will own the other 10 percent and sit on the board. Cyber AI Entertainment is said to be capitalized at 20 million yen ($222,500).

Kutaragi stepped down from formal responsibilities at SCEI and assumed his role as Honorary Chairman in 2007. While his important place in the history of video games is secure, we'll always have a special place in our hearts for some of his more choice quotes.
