John Woo Gets a Grip on Stranglehold Movie

Posted December 9, 2009 by David Radd

Stranglehold was a game billed as a direct sequel to the seminal Hard Boiled with consultation from director John Woo. While the level of collaboration with a game studio was unprecedented for the veteran director, he apparently has other plans for the property.

“We are going to make [Stranglehold] into a movie,” said Woo to Cinematical.

When asked if he is working on another game, Woo responded, “No. I don't have that much time, even though I want to make one again. But for the moment, I also am producing two movies. One is shooting in Taiwan. One is shooting in Shanghai. So I am quite busy these days.”

I actually loved Stranglehold and at the time referred to it as the closest thing we would get to a current gen Max Payne. This was of course before Max Payne 3 was announced. But still, Stranglehold and Fear have the best use of bullet time for any shooter for this gen.
