John Lennon's Imagine Album Coming To Rock Band 3

Posted October 25, 2010 by M.H. Williams

The newest Guitar Hero might not be doing all that well, but Harmonix and MTV Games are trying their hardest to make sure that Rock Band 3 will not follow its competitor. MTV announced today that John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ will be the one of the first albums released as downloadable content for the game.

"The songs on John Lennon's Imagine run the gamut from beautiful piano-driven ballads like ‘Jealous Guy’ to all-out guitar rockers like ‘Gimme Some Truth’,” said Paul DeGooyer, senior VP of MTV Networks’ electronic games, music and programming division. "It's an incredible musical statement, and a real workout on keyboard, guitar and vocals in Rock Band 3. We're very excited to confirm it as one of the first downloads for our new game, and to help our fans celebrate John's 70th birthday with its release."

On launch day, October 26, the Doors will mark the first debut of DLC for Rock Band 3, adding to the immense Rock Band catalog of over 2,000 songs. Those who play the first week the game is available, from October 26 to November 1, can get three free Doors songs with full Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrade, including “Light My Fire”, “Riders on the Storm”, and “Touch Me”. The rest of the songs will be available as a nine-pack of music that same week.

In the following weeks, more Rock Band 3 content is planned, with hits from music greats like the aforementioned John Lennon, Bon Jovi, and Billy Joel. That’s not counting all content available on the Rock Band Network, which allows players to share music and the entire Rock Band experience with others.

Rock Band 3 will be available in North America on October 26, 2010, with an 83-song setlist on the disc itself. The rest of the world gets the game a mere three days later on October 29. The game will be releasing on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS.
