PlayStation Vita's Most Anticipated Title in Japan: Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Posted December 5, 2011 by Ben Strauss

Japanese gamers are apparently looking to the West with more favor, if a recent survey has any bearing on the community.  According to an online survey offered by Famitsu, Uncharted: Golden Abyss is in fact the most anticipated upcoming game for the PS Vita, beating out a slew of Japanese-developed titles.  This result is part of a larger indication that Western-based titles are simply becoming more popular in the country.

Lagging behind Uncharted on the survey were SCE’s Hot Shots Golf 6, Atlus’ Persona 4: The Golden, Namco Bandai’s Ridge Racer and Spike Chunsoft’s Shin Kamaitachi no Yoru. While SCE Bend Studio, a developer based in Japan, is handling the development of the Uncharted Vita game, the franchise comes from America's Naughty Dog.

With Skyrim gaining a 40/40 on Famitsu, Call of Duty earning the top sales spot in Japan and even titles like Battlefield 3, LA Noire and Just Dance making headway in a country that has traditionally been resistant to the West, there is certainly an observable sea change in the Japanese market happening right now.
