Add more to the mobile pot, as famous Japanese developers have announced upcoming projects specifically designed for mobile devices. Big hitters like Suda 51 and Keiji Inafune have already made mention of upcoming projects, but other big names have also put their hats into the ring.
Suda 51 has already revealed his project, a mobile version of No More Heroes. He describes the game as a “social assassin battle,” one that will add co-operative fighting and touchscreen controls for the iOS and Android markets.
Keiji Inafune, former Capcom producer and current founder of Intercept and Comcept, is working on JJ Rockets. The action title will have players acting as the President in an effort to save the world. The new game will also be coming out to iOS and Android.
Other heavy-hitters include Noritaka Futamizu, another former Capcom developer. He has announced Combo Kimaru for the mobile platforms, to be developed by his studio, Craft & Meister. Also developing is former head of the Sonic Team, Yuji Naka. His new studio Prope has announced Buddy Monster, a mobile social RPG that will offer monster-hunting gameplay.
With four titles coming from bigger names in the Japanese gaming industry, players can certainly look forward to more offerings on mobile platforms. With the staggering popularity of mobile devices in the East, and the rising gaming tide of mobile platforms in the West, it almost seems like a necessity these days for developers to consider the offerings of iOS and Android.
