Capcom announced today that it's bringing an "uncompromised" version of Street Fighter IV to the iPhone this March. "This is Street Fighter IV in all its glory… uncompromised and awesome," said Takeshi Tezuka, General Manager of Mobile Content Development, Capcom. “We’re particularly proud of the multiplayer feature as it remains true to the series arcade roots by allowing players to go head-to-head over Bluetooth in spectacular fashion.”
Behold the virtual d-pad and button layout
The game will use a roster from the console versions, with a few new characters thrown in, and it will be controlled with an advanced virtual d-pad or “Visual Pad” control interface, which can be customized by repositioning the buttons and d-pad anywhere on the screen through the options menu. That's all well and good, and we give Capcom credit for trying, but there's just no way the game can be played with the same level of comfort and accuracy on a touch screen.
Another title, just launched for iPhone, is PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies. PopCap recently talked about wanting to bring the title to the iPad - well, the iPhone is a good start. Plants vs. Zombies has sold faster than any previous PopCap games, the company said.
“Plants vs. Zombies for iPhone and iPod touch marks the first adaptation of our wildly popular 'flower defense' game to a new platform, and we’re excited at how well it has translated to the iPhone and iPod touch,” stated Andrew Stein, director of mobile platforms at PopCap Games. “We’ve stayed true to the original computer version with the full-featured gameplay of Adventure mode, and have optimized this adaptation around a seamless touch interface. Plus, we’ve added great content, including the new Quick Play Arena which allows easy replay of any level after completing the Adventure mode, and more than a dozen achievements to reward successful completion of in-game challenges.”

so let me get this straight capcom...The Wii simply didnt have the tech for sfIV but you build an iPhone version before a wii or even a PSP version....I understand theres budget to think about...but when building a working version for iphone theres no reason that a wii and psp version would be far behind....This iPhone version will be nothing short of gimped

Haha, true enough Anthony. I just find it comical that Capcom has the nerve to call it "uncompromised." I mean, really?
