iPad and iPhone have become incredibly popular devices for gaming and entertainment in general, and it doesn't appear that interest in Apple platforms is declining whatsoever. In fact, the iPad - not consoles or handhelds - is the most desired consumer electronic among kids ages 6-12 for holiday 2011, according to Nielsen.
Moreover, interest in Apple's tablet has actually increased over the last year, as nearly half (44%) of kids are now expressing interest in the product, which is up from 31 percent in 2010. And other popular Apple devices are also seeing plenty of interest from kids, as the iPod Touch stands at 30% and iPhone is at 27%.
From a pure gaming perspective, Nintendo should be happy that among dedicated gaming machines, Nielsen's data shows 3DS in the lead for holiday wish lists, ahead of Microsoft's Kinect, the Xbox 360 and PS3.
As for older kids (over age 13) and adults, Apple's iPad takes the crown in that segment too, but by a smaller margin. Check out Nielsen's two charts below.
