InstantAction Announces Hiring Drive

Despite positive signs on Wall Street, for the average American the economy is still brutal and the unemployment rate is above 10%. The game industry is certainly not immune and, just this week EA announced layoffs for 1,500 staff. Here's a bit of good news, though. IAC-owned InstantAction could provide these axed EA folks the opportunity to get out of the traditional console business. The browser-based gaming company announced plans today to hire positions in product management, marketing, account management, web development, quality assurance, and operations in its Portland office.

IndustryGamers exclusively brought you the news that former EALA executive Lou Castle joined InstantAction as its new CEO. (See full interview here.) At the time, he revealed that the company would be shifting to Portland. While other companies are downsizing, InstantAction aims to increase its current workforce by 25 percent.

"Our mission is to bring the best of gaming and the best of the web together to create something that no one has ever seen before. In order to accomplish such an ambitious vision, we are looking to grow our team of smart and passionate people," said Andy Yang, Chief Operating Officer of InstantAction. "We are looking to expand quickly and Portland is a thriving city ripe with talent that we want to leverage to continue to build our brand and grow our business."

The company said it's holding an open house and inviting local web and game development university programs, companies and other organizations to join them on November 11 at 6pm at Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade. Prospective employees can apply by visiting http://www.iac.com/Careers/ or sending resumes to jobs@instantaction.com.
