Infinity Blade Going Japanese & Free-To-Play

Posted June 22, 2011 by M.H. Williams

DeNA has announced that it'll be adapting Epic and Chair’s Infinity Blade title for the Japanese market.  The new title, Infinity Blade X, will not only launch on DeNA’s Mobage social network, but the game will also be free-to-play.

Gameplay will remain the same, but the game will be offering in-game virtual goods.  No details on what virtual items will be sold were given.

Can Infinity Blade repeat its success in Japan? DeNA expects to have the Unreal Engine 3-powered slasher ready by Fall. We'll be curious to see if future Chair and Epic titles start promoting free-to-play here in North America as well.
