Having founded the Games Workshop in the U.K. back in 1975 and launched Dungeons & Dragons in Europe, Ian Livingstone is one of the true pioneers of the games industry in Britain. He was awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for "Services to the Computer Games Industry" back in 2006.
As the "Life President" at Eidos, Livingstone oversaw the launch and rise in popularity of Tomb Raider. Now, as a keynote speaker at the upcoming GC Asia Conference, he plans to tell the story of Lara Croft "as a case study to demonstrate the value of creating original Intellectual Property." The presentation is called “The Life of Lara Croft” and it will also delve into a history of video games and "how to leverage games through licensing and merchandising to produce additional revenues and brand value."
“I am happy to share my knowledge and experience I have gained over the years at a conference that is a truly international platform for knowledge sharing and networking for the games industry for the entire Asia Pacific region,” said Livingstone.
“Ian Livingstone fits perfectly with this year’s GCAC theme ‘Emerging Markets for New Players’ in the sense that he will give insight into the entire value chain of a computer game,” said Jorg Zeissig, Managaing Director of LMI Asia Pte Ltd. “His experience and knowledge will be of great value to the attendees as we will have one of the world’s most influential game veterans at the show.”
GCA and GCAC are scheduled for September 17-20, 2009, in Singapore at the Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
