Hookshot Inc Launches to Cover Downloadable Gaming

Posted February 15, 2012 by James Brightman

Hookshot Inc.com is a new games website dedicated to the coverage of digitally distributed titles $15 and under. A "super team" of journalists - Christian Donlan, Simon Parkin, Will Porter and Keith Stuart - will report on digital offerings on consoles, handhelds, PC (including browser games and Facebook) as well as phones and tablets.

"Keeping track of the very best downloadable titles on multiple platforms can be a challenge" explained Hookshot Inc.'s Will Porter. "We want to help separate the signal from the noise. There are countless downloadable games being created by companies big and small, and we want to single out the ones that truly deserve the attention of busy people with hectic lives."

“With games like Shadow Complex, Super Crate Box, Triple Town, Alchemy, and Drop7 out, this is something we’ve wanted to do for ages,” added Christian Donlan. “We had to give it a try, even if it turns out to be a(nother) humiliating disaster.”

The editors at Hookshot each have at least 10 years of game journalism experience. Donlan is a regular contributor to Edge Magazine and Eurogamer (which owns IndustryGamers);  Parkin also has been contributing to Edge Magazine since 2003 and he's a columnist and critic on games for The Guardian; Porter is the former editor of PC Zone and he's now a freelance games journalist and script writer; and Stuart has been writing about games for nearly two decades, first as features editor on Edge Magazine, then as a freelance contributor to publications like PC Gamer and Official PlayStation Magazine. Since 2000 he has been one of the lead games writers for The Guardian.

Digital gaming is definitely an area that is growing by leaps and bounds and there isn't enough media attention for many of these titles, so we're eager to see what content Hookshot produces.
