Heavy Rain Tops U.K. Charts

Posted March 1, 2010 by David Radd

Last week, SCEA CEO Jack Tretton claimed that Heavy Rain was selling “incredibly well” and now there's some proof to back it up. Chart Track is reporting that the PS3 crime drama was the best-selling game for the week ending February 27, 2010 in the U.K. Last week's number one, Aliens vs. Predator, fell one slot as did the number three title, Just Dance. Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing and Napoleon: Total War, two other titles to debut on the charts, took the eight and 12 slots.

Top ten titles in the U.K. for the week ending February 27, 2010:

01 - Heavy Rain

02 - Aliens vs. Predator

03 - Just Dance

04 - Wii Fit Plus

05 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

06 - Wii Sports Resort

07 - New Super Mario Bros. Wii

08 - Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing

09 - BioShock 2

10 - FIFA 10

This is no surprise for the UK based on where the developer is located but the real question is how well is this game going to do in the US and Japan. I have a feeling Japan will mostly ignore it but I'm hoping it atleast pulls it's weight in the US.

Like I said in an earlier post, I really hope that this game and Alan Wake do well so that we can get more fresh gaming experiences like these.

The game just seems to niche to me, but hopefully it does well globally.

Quantic Dream is actually a French developer. But you're right 1 2 P, it's nice to see original titles like this do well.
