Heavy Rain Dev's Next Game Could Be Fiv5

Posted March 22, 2011 by M.H. Williams

Last week at the BAFTA ceremony, David Cage dropped some hints about the direction Quantic Dream’s next title would take.

“We are going to explore different directions. Still very dark, still for adults, but completely different from Heavy Rain. We want to satisfy our fans, but we want to surprise them too. That’s our challenge,” said Cage.

The new title might be called Fiv5, though no concept behind the game has been revealed yet.  Internet detective Superannuation revealed that the studio has registered a number of domains, including fiv5.net and playseries.net.  SCEE has also trademarked Fiv5, relating to “computer and video game software” and “on-line gaming services.”

The final nail in the rumor coffin is from a cache of Quantic Dream’s LinkedIn page (no longer available), which contains an entry for Benoit Godde, a concept artist for a title called Five.  Godde’s LinkedIn profile is now private and lists him as working on “a video game project (under NDA)” for Quantic Dream.

Hopefully, Fiv5 be the first time where Cage and Quantic Dream step away from serial killings as a plot device.  They've proven rather adept at it in the past with their previous games, but Cage promised us something “completely different” this time around.

They should get 9Nine to do the music for it. Their opening for Star Driver was pretty good. ;)

The 'on-line services' sounds quite interesting, David Cage did say he was looking to tackle something multiplayer so we'll see what innovative ideas he's managed to come up with.
