Halo 3: ODST Attracts 5 Million Unique Players

Posted October 19, 2009 by James Brightman

Following the news that Halo 3: ODST was the top selling video game for the month of September with more than 1.5 million copies sold, Microsoft issued the media a note with a little more detail on the buzz surrounding the latest Halo. Since the game's launch, "Halo Nation" has attracted over 5 million unique players, who have racked up 116 million hours of gameplay on Xbox Live playing either ODST or Halo 3.

Microsoft boasted that third-party sales on Xbox 360 totaled $154 million in September, which is once again more than any other system; Xbox 360 has been the leading platform for third-party sales for every month this year. Overall, consumers spent $404 million on Xbox 360 hardware, software and accessories in September, which was more than any other platform.

With another dashboard update in November and exclusives like Forza Motorsport 3 and Left 4 Dead 2, Microsoft hopes to keep up the Xbox 360 momentum throughout the holiday season.
