Guitar Hero and DJ Hero DLC Finished in February

Posted February 11, 2011 by Ben Strauss

The announcement that killed off Guitar Hero last night also came with news that there would be a complete discontinuation of all new music titles. Activision has now confirmed that it will be halting all new DLC content for their music titles as well.

In an official FAQ, the publisher states "we will not be able to release new DLC packs beyond what we already have." The question specifically asked, "Are you still going to make new DLC forGuitar/DJ Hero?"

Current DLC already announced and available will still be on the purchasing table, but from the announcement, it has been made rather clear that Activision is getting out of the music games business. "Over the past two years, we have seen rapid declines in the music genre, and unfortunately, based on current demand, we simply cannot continue to profitably make these games given the considerable licensing and manufacturing costs."
